Sans knows that he cannot defeat Gaster, but he decides to use Frisk's SOUL again to power up. Once Gaster exits the Void, he returns to his original form, regaining his powers. Sans arrives in the Void to save Frisk's life, but he cannot teleport out due to the Void's nature, so he uses a Gaster Blaster to destroy the door, allowing them to escape. Gaster covers the Reset button with a dark matter and begins attacking Frisk. Back in the Void, Frisk is trapped inside as Gaster explains that he has been watching him, saying he wants to obtain Frisk's SOUL of Determination to return to Frisk's home dimension and become whole again. At Grillby's, Sans realizes that Frisk is not there. Out of curiosity, Frisk opens the door and enters the Void, where a decaying and living Gaster sits. They are delighted to see each other, and Sans prepares to go to the next area to teleport to Grillby's with Frisk, but the child ends up in a hallway that has not appeared before and has a mysterious grey door.
